Keystone Species Award: Staff, Faculty, Post-doc, or Researcher 

This award honors an individual who serves as the bedrock of our community. GSAC recognizes this individual as someone who goes above and beyond; with an unwavering commitment to student support.  This individual is the "keystone" of the department, making an outsized and lasting impact on the department ecosystem.

Mentorship Recognition Award: Staff, Faculty, Post-doc, or Researcher 

This award honors an individual who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the graduate student community. GSAC recognizes individuals who have gone above and beyond in supporting and mentoring members of the graduate student community, facilitating success of students in graduate school and beyond.

Teaching Recognition Award: Staff, Faculty, Post-doc, or Researcher

This award recognizes an individual who exemplifies excellence in teaching through clarity, enthusiasm, and thoughtful lesson curation/presentation to students. Their commitment to student learning and inclusive pedagogy makes a lasting impact in our department.

Outstanding Community Leadership Award, Graduate Student:

Awarded to a graduate student who brings people together through thoughtful, inclusive, and well-executed events. Their creativity and dedication to organizing and attending department gatherings strengthens community bonds and fosters a sense of belonging within EEMB.

Excellence in Graduate Teaching Award:

This award recognizes a graduate student who exemplifies excellence in teaching through clarity, enthusiasm, and deep engagement with students. Their commitment to student learning, mentorship, and inclusive pedagogy makes a lasting impact in our undergraduate community.

Excellence in Graduate Mentoring Award:

This award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to mentoring, fostering student growth, and cultivating a culture of learning and support. Through their guidance and encouragement of undergraduates, this mentor has empowered students to reach their full potential. This graduate awardee exemplifies dedication to sharing knowledge and investing in others.

Graduate "Foundation Species" Award

This award recognizes a graduate student who serves as a "foundation species" within our academic community. This student’s contributions have built a more supportive, collaborative, and thriving environment. This award honors an individual who provides the structural and social "habitat" that allows the department to flourish.
